An immortal tomato cannot escape a kitchen. But it can die in it — over and over — and climb out on what it leaves behind.

Every death is a building material. A splat on the floor is a step up. A splat on a wall is something to cling to. A splat thrown across a bed of fork spikes is a bridge you can walk over. You are never going to out-jump this kitchen. You are going to die your way through it.

Twenty-one rooms, from a quiet stretch of countertop to a chef the size of the back wall, who has spent 20 years on one soup recipe and is not about to be beaten by a pesky ingredient. He cannot be hurt by good platforming. He can only be hurt by landing on his hand and bursting on purpose — three times.

What lies after this seemingly unending kitchen..?

There's only one way to find out.

The levels may take a while to complete them all! I'd recommend unlocking all the levels in the settings menu, and then doing the boss fight on level 20 if you are on a time crunch. I find it to be the best part of the game.

Submitted it 2 minutes late so... not actually in the jam.

Edit; was actually able to enter the jam after all with some help!

Me until level 13: yeah, such a fun game, new mechanics make it even more fun
Me on level 13: FUCK FUCK FUCK I FUCKING HATE THIS (why is level 13 literally hell on Earth?)
I mean platformers are made to refine your skills and sometimes question your choices in life, this game is a good platformer. I just found a little bug where you can't really jump over a ledge using the wall splat when covered in oil.

haha thank you for the feedback, after level 8 the levels are generated randomly in chunks (for the most part). So I may need to dial back some of the levels a bit. I’m happy you enjoyed the first 12 at least.

It's a shame this didn't actually make it in time - it's a great little concept for a puzzle platformer game! Charming music and the graphics reminded me of the Flash games I used to play about two decades ago!

I think two tweaks I would've made are probably related to design; I think a more central view rather than side scrolling would've worked better for this (so going horizontally and vertically across cabinets in terms of platforming with the camera showing the entire level) as being able to see ahead would make you understand immediately approximately how many deaths you'd take to bridge any obstacles and make the repetition a bit less irritating. Less mandatory death elements in general would've made it more fun too - like singular and double forks to add more skill to the platforming or the grease adding more speed to make it more about skill!

Great effort! Earned a follow!

thanks for the feedback! I think both you suggestions are smart additions.
